It seems a huge task to finally make a list of what to pack for your China tour. We are here to make a China travel packing list for you with the purpose to make the packing process easier for you. Trust us since this is a comprehensive list of China tour packing items that we make based on our years of experience.

Basic and Essential Items

Here are some essentials that you don’t want to leave behind for a tour in China. No matter which season or region you choose to travel to China, you should absolutely bring those basic and critical items with you. Never forget to double check before leaving for the airport.

1. Your valid passport with some copies of it, a Chinese visa, health certifications, and other documents related to your China tour.
2. Credit cards, some RMB if you have exchanged in your own country, and some emergency cash. You can exchange RMB in China easily.
3. Print out your travel itinerary, the contact details of your travel guide, as well as your travel insurance.
4. All electronics that you may need, such as your phone (better download a VPN in advance), camera, and earphones.
5. All chargers to your electronics, a converter, and a plug adaptor. It is better you prepare these items on your own.
6. Prepare your first-aid kit with your prescribed medications, some drugs for emergency use, as well as your medical history.
7. A proper daypack to carry some essential items when you are out for tourist destinations in China.

Personal and Hygiene Products

When traveling to China, you may want to prepare some personal or hygiene items that you will use daily to avoid getting into trouble.

1. Hand sanitizer and wipes. It is a truth that toilet paper and soap are not offered in many public toilets in China. So, if you are very concerned about it, you should bring some.
2. Cleanser and moisturizer. You can buy them in China. But you don’t need to waste time on it since you can bring your own in your suitcase.
3. Deodorant. It may be hard to find in Chinese local supermarkets since the Chinese rarely use it.
4. Feminine products. If you will have a period during your China tour, you need to bring enough tampons In case you cannot find them in China. Asia women prefer to use sanitary pads.
5. Other small items including a pair of sunglasses, a hat, earplugs, and an eye mask can also be prepared.

Clothes

You should pack your clothes wisely and lightly. It is better to check the local weather in China before packing. But it is suggested not to bring too many clothes. Usually, you only need the following clothing essentials for a tour in China. You should adjust the list by season and region.

1-2 long sleeve shirts
3-5 short sleeve shirts
2-3 pairs of pants
1-2 pairs of shorts
A warm sweater or hoodie
2 jackets
1 pair of comfy walking shoes
Socks
Disposable underwear

However, except for those basic and critical items, there is no need to worry too much if you forget to pack something. You can buy everything in China if you really need them. We list some extra items here for you to pack because we don’t want you to waste time purchasing them. But if you did forget to bring something, you can ask for help from your tour guide. They will be happy to do you a favor. Besides, you may want to know the baggage allowance for your flights. The baggage allowance for passengers with adult or child tickets is usually 40kg for first class, 30kg for business class, and 20kg for economy class. If you have booked an infant ticket, the baggage allowance is 10kg. It is for sure that you will be charged for overloaded luggage. So, it is better to pack lightly and smartly.
