Itinerary

Day 1: Paro Arrival, drive to Thimphu

Your private tour guide will meet you at the airport of Paro and drive you to the capital city of Bhutan - Thimphu. After driving for about 1.5 hours, you will arrive at your hotel and you will check in to have a short rest. Then, you will start your tour in Thimphu by visiting the 169ft Buddha Dordhenma Statue located at Kuensel Phodrang. Then, you can enjoy the rest of the day in Thimphu.

Day 2: Hike to Tango Monastery, sightseeing in Thimphu

In the early morning after your breakfast, you will do a 2-3-hour hike to Tango Monastery. Founded in the 13th century by Tibetan scholar Phajo Drugom Zhigo, it is one of the most important religious centers in the Kingdom.

After the hike, drive back to Thimphu to have lunch. Then, you will continue visiting the National Institute of Zorig Chusum where 13 Bhutanese traditional arts & crafts are taught. Then, take a stroll at Craft Bazaar along the main street in Thimphu to find sorts of authentic Bhutanese handicrafts.

Day 3: Transfer to Punakha Valley

After breakfast, you will drive to Punakha, which will take about 3 hours. On the way, you will stop at the Dochula Pass to view the stunning Himalayan Mountain ranges. If you would like to hike, you can choose the Lungtsezelkha hike which passes through Rhododendron forests and alpine vegetation. After climbing up to the peak of northern Bhutan as well as the valleys of southern Bhutan.

And continue driving to visit the famous 15th-century Chimi Lhakhang popularly known among tourists as the "Temple of Fertility".

Day 4: Sightseeing in Punakha, take an easy hike

You will start exploring Punakha valley by visiting Khamsum Yuelley Namgyal stupa. It needs you to hike about 45 minutes to the hilltop where the temple is located. The temple is a splendid example of Bhutan's fine architectural and artistic traditions and the only one of its kind in the world. From there, you will take another hike to cross a suspension bridge to another side of the Mo Chu River.

After a picnic lunch, you will pay a visit to the most beautiful Bhutanese dzong - Punakha Dzong, the masterpiece of Bhutanese architecture displaying fine arts and craftsmanship. Then, you can walk to Bhutan's longest suspension bridge that runs over the glacier-fed Phochu River.

Day 5: Punakha, drive to Phobjikha Valley

After breakfast, your tour guide will pick you up and take you to visit the Sangchhen Dorji Lhuendrup Lhakhang Nunnery which is atop a ridge amid pine trees and overlooking the valleys of Punakha and Wangduephodrang.

After lunch, transfer to Phobjikha Valley, which takes 3 hours. Upon arrival, you will visit the landmark in Phobjikha Valley, a 17th-century Gangtey Monastery popularly known as Gangtey Gonpa. It is one of the largest monasteries in Bhutan.

Day 6: Gangtey Nature Hike, drive to Paro

After breakfast, you will venture out on a Gangtey Nature Hike that will take about 2.5 hours to go through the woods surrounded by splendid nature all around, wonderful meadows, beautiful traditional village houses, farmlands, and crystalline streams.

After lunch, drive 5 hours to Paro Valley.

Day 7: Paro

After breakfast in your hotel, you will be transferred to the Tiger's Nest and start your trek tour here. It is Bhutan's most famous cultural icon. There you will spend about 1.5 hours climbing to the viewpoint to get a stunning view of the monastery. You can take many amazing pictures from there. Then, you will continue trekking another 1.5 hours to the location of the monastery and pay a visit to it.

After the tour, you will transfer to the ruins of Drukgyel Dzong where you can take some great photos with the gorgeous backdrop of Chomolhari Moutain.

Day 8: Paro Departure
